Years of experience and expertise allow us to embark on special projects outside of the field of transport engineering. Using innovative design, working with key suppliers, and collaborating with other expert companies, we have been involved with a number of diverse mechanical engineering projects over the the last few years.

EWP - Travel Towers

Now in its 3rd year of production the TRT designed and built travel tower continues to evolve.

The original 18 metre glove and barrier travel tower features a composite boom providing insulation for "live-line" work. An industrial all steel version is also available where insulation is not a requirement.

Seen here fitted to a Fuso 4X2 Fighter Truck, the travel tower is put through its paces during pre delivery checks. Comprising of a deck, weldment platform, Boom assembly, and man bucket, the travel tower is designed, built, and assembled at our Maui Street facility exclusively for Sherrin Equipment Pty Ltd of Brisbane Australia.

In addition to the travel towers fully assembled and delivered as finished vehicles, travel towers are also exported as complete deck and boom assemblies, ready to be fitted to a bare cab and chassis offshore.

A number of new features have been recently developed, including a rotating man bucket. We will shortly be supplying travel tower decks for 6x4 trucks, and are currently designing a 24 metre boom for Sherrin Equipment.

 


Tiwai AluminiumSmelter

A Heavy Duty 3 axle semi trailer, specified with BPW wide track axle and suspension, the trailer features a Southern Cross Engineering Gantry Crane supported on two hydraulically extending end posts, which extend to raise the Gantry to lift at heights of 6.8 Metres and 8.1 Metres.

Stryker Airport Crash Tender

Part of the design team comprising Mills Tui, Transmission & Diesels, TRT, and AIAL. TRT was responsible for the assembly and supply of chassis and drivetrain

Powered by a Detroit Diesel V12 through an Allison M6610A Transmission and Cushman A294 Transfer Case with Dana Eaton 651 Drive Axles, at 39.2 Tonne this Category 10 Crash Tender is one of the largest 6x6 drive vehicles ever made

Paper Roll Mandrel Carrier

Self propelled designed for Pulp and Paper Mills this hydrostatically self propelled, on rail bogie or rubber tyre, the carrier features drivers controls at both ends.

Powered by Diesel , the carrier is engineered to operate at a maximum of 88 Dba. Maximum mandrel capacity of 12 Mtr long by 2Mtr diameter and 67500 Kg
